Xfm Rock Show Blog 20/11/10
This week I caught up with Chino and Abe from Deftones. Despite the situation with Chi, this is a band who have managed to perform some of the best shows of their career, if you saw them in the UK this week you’ll know how on form they are. The gigs really demonstrated what a body of work they have, so many pounding anthems one after the other, and in addition to this they’ve managed to make one of their best albums with Diamond Eyes. As the guys said, this situation is always over shadowed by the fact Chi is still in hospital, but he’s making slow progress, and in the meantime Defotnes have some how managed to stay top of their game.
The Blood Red Shoes session was very good. I always try to cover everything good that can be considered “rock” on the show, for those of you who like the softer end, they are a great British band worthy of your time.
I am loving the new Motorhead album, I played a couple of songs on Sat. Look out for The World Is Yours being released as part of an exclusive Motorhead magazine, published by the people behind Metal Hammer & Classic Rock, it’ll be out in a couple of weeks.
I also saw the new Lemmy movie at the weekend, it’s tremendous and perfectly captures one of my favourite people. There’s a screening for the film in London soon, thanks to everyone who entered the contest for tickets. The winners were Simon Aherne and Paul Leyland.
As of next week The Xfm Rock Show will run from 11pm-2am for the next few weeks, this is due to Xfm doing a series of broadcasts from the Alps, so please remember we’ll be starting one hour later from next Sat.
Oh and one more thing, the only album that is causing me to switch from the new Motorhead is the new Middle Class Rut, that’s out on Mon, check it out, it’s really good.
